One of my favorite ideas is to embed seeds in the invitation and then the guests can plant the actual invitation and it will grow into a tree.
• Favors: Trees (you can order seeds in a tube with a personalized label from numerous companies), make a donation in each guest's name, buy local, buy organic.
• Centerpieces: Use plants that can later be planted, vases made from recycled glass or bamboo, or fruit that guests can take home.
• Flowers: Grow them yourself, buy local, buy organic, or use silk flowers.
• Rings: Gold and diamonds are two of the dirties businesses in the world. Buy vintage or man-made processed diamond alternatives and locally mined gold.
  
• Dress: Buy vintage, organic cotton, or silk. Consider donating your gown afterward.
• Have your ceremony and reception at the same place to avoid adding drive time for all your guests.
• Donate leftover food to a shelter.
• Throw birdseed instead of rice.
